There are 8 intelligences that we all possess but some are stronger than others and differ from person to person. Although we may not be using all of them, all of the time; we use them throughout our lives for different situations.
Bodily Kinaesthetic - using one's body to solve problems.Interpersonal - allows people to work effectively with others.
Verbal- Linguistic - sensitivity to spoken and written language.
Logical- Mathematical - to analyze problems logically.
Naturalistic - enables human beings to recognize certain features of the environment.
Intrapersonal - the capacity to understand oneself; feelings, fears and motivations.
Visual- Spatial - awareness of the space around us.
Musical - skill in performance, composition, and appreciation of musical patterns.
I believe my best areas to be verbal- linguistic and intrapersonal.
These multiple intelligences are what drives the models of TPR and TPRS, in that they stimulate all of the learners intelligences in order to acquire language more effectively.
Questions:
-What are your strongest intelligences? Do you think this is developed by your environment or is it an innate quality?

My strongest intelligences are musical and bodily kinaesthetic.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion it's been developed by my environment, but also an innate quality. It depends on what your environment has offert you in the younger years. For example: I really like music and I sing a lot, but my parents have never let me played an instrument. If my parents should let me play an instrument when I was younger, the environment should have helped me. Now it is only an innate quality.
It depends on what your interests are and I believe that the development in my environment helped me to develop my interests.
i think my strongest intelligences are bodily kinaesthetic and interpersonal. I learn best through actually doing something, and i think i can work well with others, far better than when i work on my own because i have the motivation from the other group members :)
ReplyDeleteI would say that my strongest intelligence is the linguistic intelligence. In all honesty I have no idea why i think this. I just think i fit into this category more than the others. I have always preferred to just sit down and listen. I do not think it has been effective by my environment though because i have always been encouraged to be able to interact and interactive. However i prefer to just sit down and learn?

ReplyDeleteI think mine is bodily kinaesthetic and interpersonal as I know myself to be a kinaesthetic learner and I understand my feelings more than people give me credit for. I do think some of this is innate, however the environment has a big part to play.
I think that my intelligence is bodily kinaesthetic and also visual spatial because I understand better when I see an example or when I learn by doing. I also can remember things better when I see them, not only read.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it is an innate quality because very small children already have one. But I also think that it can change later on because of the environment. So I would say that both factors have something to do with the intelligences everone have.
My strongest intellengencies are by far bodily Kinaesthetic and Logical- Mathematical purely down to the fact that I understand tasks better after I have put myself in the situation that will allow me to carry out a full evaluation of a problem, with this I also take the time to analyse any posible results that I think may occur.
ReplyDeleteMy strongest are linguistic, musical and intra personal. I think I developed musical extra because of my musical education I had when I was younger. The environment of children has a big influence.
ReplyDeleteI have loads! but my highest was interpersonal. I think that in the beginning when we are developing our personality that we have a few that we strive in, however these intelligences are not concrete, like the average person. we are constantly changing, so are intelligences change as well. as when we get older we need new skills for certain aspects of our life, so we need to enable new intelligences.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely interesting reading what intelligences you have as individuals and it was obvious to see how people differ. I knew this would be the case before the response however this reinforced my thinking.
My strongest intelligences are linguistic and interpersonal, I think they are innate and developed by my environment. As humans as malleable and grow and develop.
